On this occasion, the female sponsor was another Casey, Eliza, and again it is speculated that she was Mary’s sister. The next child baptised was Laurence, and this happened, as already known, in 1840.¹¹

Once again, it is speculated that Cecilia Casey was yet another sister of Mary’s. Note that on the register, Laurence’s name is slightly misspelled. It is worth mentioning that, again according to the old naming customs, the second son in a family would often be named after the mother’s father. If this applied here, then Mary’s father could have been named Laurence, but, other than confirming the absence of any Laurence Casey from Griffith’s Valuation, this has not been further checked.

After the birth of Laurence, the third child in their four years of marriage, Thomas and Mary seem to have no further children baptised until 1848. The Parish Register shows one final baptism of a child of the couple in that year.¹²
